Celebrating International Day of Yoga 2025: Yoga for One Earth, One Health

The Indian Association of Life Skills Education (IALSE) marked the International Day of Yoga 2025 with a virtual event on June 21, hosted on Google Meet. Themed “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the session underscored the connection between personal well-being and planetary health.

The event began with a warm welcome from Ms. Rama Bhide, Secretary of IALSE, followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. A. Radhakrishnan Nair, President of IALSE and Dean at IHU, Florida. Dr. Nair highlighted the relevance of integrating yoga into life skills education, especially in today’s fast-paced, digitally overwhelming world.

A keynote was delivered by Dr. Shanmugamurthy Lakshmanan, Vice Chancellor of Siddha-Vetha Center for Transdisciplinary Studies, New Jersey. He emphasized the role of Indian traditional wisdom, particularly Yoga and Ayurveda, in promoting sustainable and holistic lifestyles.

The program concluded with a guided yoga session led by Dr. G. Sureshkumar, Chairperson of FPA India (Kerala Chapter). The practice included Pranayama, Sookshmavyayam, Asanas, and Mudras, encouraging participants to adopt yoga as a daily discipline for overall wellness.

The celebration reinforced yoga’s significance as a powerful tool for fostering both individual and collective harmony with nature.
