The Indian Association of Life Skills Education (IALSE), in collaboration with Loreto College, Kolkata, inaugurated the NEP Lecture Series on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2025. The lecture, themed “Life Skills in the NEP Era: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities,” explored the integration of life skills education within the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework.
Dr. Radhakrishnan Nair, President of IALSE, in his Presidential Address, emphasized that life skills—such as critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and ethical values—are essential for shaping adaptable, empathetic, and socially responsible learners.
Prof. Debasish Bandopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, delivered the keynote address, connecting philosophical and scientific perspectives on life skills. He highlighted mindfulness, self-awareness, and holistic education as vital tools to promote mental well-being and resilience among learners.
The interactive session addressed practical ways to nurture emotional regulation, manage stress, and integrate art, music, and community activities like NSS and NCC into education for balanced development.
Dr. Gauri Hardikar, Vice President of IALSE, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of Loreto College and IALSE in launching the lecture series.
The event marked a meaningful beginning to the NEP Lecture Series, reaffirming the vision of education rooted in competence, creativity, compassion, and holistic learning.
