On the occasion of United Nations Day (24 October 2025), the Indian Association of Life Skills Education (IALSE), Chennai, in collaboration with Mar Theophilus Training College, Nalanchira, successfully conducted Masterclass #3 as part of its Thematic Masterclass Series. The online event was held via Google Meet from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and focused on the theme “Partnership for Global Peace Building.”
The programme began with a warm welcome by Prof. Dr. Joju John, Principal of Mar Theophilus Training College, followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. A. Radhakrishnan Nair, President of IALSE, who highlighted the role of life skills and human values in fostering peace and sustainable development, in alignment with the UN Day theme “Building Our Future Together.”
The highlight of the event was the Keynote Address by Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Swarup, an internationally renowned educationist and peace advocate. His address introduced the powerful concept of “Affirmative Non-Killing Peace” and the Non-Killing Index, emphasizing a holistic, scientific, ethical, and spiritual approach to global peace that goes beyond the absence of war. He underscored the importance of education, mental health awareness, ecological responsibility, and global partnerships in creating non-violent and compassionate societies.
An interactive discussion session followed, with valuable reflections from senior academicians and education leaders, reinforcing the idea that peace education and life skills are inseparable. The programme concluded with insightful closing remarks by Dr. Radhakrishnan Nair and a vote of thanks by Dr. Gauri Hardikar, Vice President of IALSE.
The masterclass served as a meaningful platform for dialogue and reflection, reaffirming the role of education, life skills, and collaborative action in advancing global peace and human dignity.
